Charm City Can’t Curb Violence,
Sacks Police Commissioner

It’s no laughing matter, but Baltimore’s latest police commissioner has been sacked. The reason was a bit surprising. He didn’t reduce violent crimes, which last year included 343 murders. The per capita record for Charm City.

In my experience around law enforcement and criminal courts of many years, no police chief or any other of similar title, has ever been able to halt shootings, stabbings, garrotings, or any other forms of crime.

In all probability the toughest job in the world these days is being a cop. This slang expression is considered an acceptable term for serving men and women that comes from Constable on Patrol. There are other meanings of course.

One of the most troubling things to happen in Maryland of late has been the Baltimore death of a young guy who died in police custody apparently from tormented ride in what would have been described as a paddy wagon in days of yore.
